Tour de l'Alberta Volunteers

Volunteers play a crucial role in the Tour de l'Alberta. Without volunteers the Tour would not have started and would not be able to continue. We treat our volunteers like Gold because that is what they are worth.

There are many different positions you can assist the Tour de l'Alberta including:

Pre-Event Planning or Volunteer While You Ride

Many of you would like to volunteer but love to ride the Tour as well. You can do both if you help with pre-event activities or volunteer while you ride! Here is a list of some areas you can help with:

Ride a route as a bike marshal or final sweep

Day Of Volunteers

To run the tour we need over 200 volunteers in various positions. You can volunteer to help with:

Rest Stop Support

Sag Vehicle Driver

Motorcycle Support

First Aid Support

Venue Setup

Venue Takedown

Parking Attendant

Information Host

Registration Table Attendant

Volunteer Checkin Attendant

Finish Line

Photography/Video

Hand out refreshments and encourage cyclists along the route

Drive your vehicle along the route to help cyclists or make deliveries

Escort the cyclists and ensure road safety

Provide any necessary first aid

Set up the arena on the morning of the Tour

Wash dishes, clean up tasks

Ensure orderly parking for cyclists and volunteers

Answer any questions for cyclists and volunteers

Hand out registration packages and accept last-minute registrations

Check in volunteers and tell them where the lounge area is

Cheer finishers and hand out items

Every volunteer position plays a critical role in the success and safety of each participant. Your time and efforts will be appreciated and rewarded. On the day of the event, there will be food and drink supplied for you. So come on out and join the ride as a volunteer. There is a position for everyone including those wanting to ride in the Tour.

Are you concerned that you may not be qualified or given sufficient instruction? Don't worry because we are hosting a Volunteer Orientation evening this year on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at a To-Be-Determined location at 7:00 pm. This will an optional but recommended informal opportunity to learn more about your position and to meet your fellow team members. A modest meal will be provided, and there will be draw prizes handed out. So book Wednesday, July 18 on your calendar now, and drag your friends with you!
